Here’s the future 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe. The current Santa Fe has been around since 2012 and it quickly became one of the best crossovers on the US market. This is mostly thanks to its great price, very good interior equipment and quality as well as its design which is arguably one of the best out there. In order to keep one of their best selling models on top, Hyundai released earlier this year an update for the Asian version of the car which is also scheduled to debut on the US market as the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe.

This update gives the exterior a well deserved facelift, it slightly improves the efficiency of the car and it makes it even better equipped than before.

Just like with the ongoing model, the new Santa Fe will be available in short wheelbase form as the Sport as well as in long wheelbase form as the Santa Fe. The running gear will be upgraded for both models in order to provide a slightly better feel for the road to the driver and also to give the car a nicer ride.

Design – Interior & Exterior

Let’s start with the obvious changes on the upcoming 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe. Because this is a mild refresh, the car will not get an all new design but it will rather get a facelift to bring in closer in terms of looks to the Tucson. The Asian model received a new front end with a bolder 3-bar grille with newly designed headlights which have a 3D design to them while the bumper received a slightly more sculpted design with a more aggressive lower spoiler.

The back received a similar treatment with newly designed tail lights and a different exhaust system for the Sport model. The designs of the wheels will also most likely change for both cars.

Inside view

The interior has not been showcased just yet but there are rumors that both of them will receive a new infotainment and navigation unit which should be not only easier to use but also much faster than before. On top of that the Sport version is also going to get a 7 seats version in certain markets but in the US it will remain the same. The long wheelbase version of the car will likely receive a new infotainment system for the back seats and even an easier folding system for the third row of seats.

Under the Hood

Engine wise on the other hand, the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe will remain mostly unchanged from the ongoing version which is to be expected. The base Sport will continue to be offered with a 190 horsepower 2.4 liter inline 4 while its top end model will get a similar 2 liter turbocharged inline 4 as before but this time it may prove to be more fuel efficient thanks to the addition of a newly developed 7 speed dual-clutch automatic.

The long wheelbase model on the other hand will continue to offer the same 3.3 liter naturally aspirated V6 which remains to this day one of the smoothest engines in its class and by far the most rewarding of any. It will continue to provide 290 horsepower and 252 lb-ft of torque and it will be mated as standard to a 6 speed automatic which will send power either to the front wheels in which case the fuel consumption will improve thanks to the better aerodynamics of the new design or to an all wheel drive system in which case the fuel consumption will remain the same as before due to the added weight.
